14 Weeks

It's been another fun filled week for the Chalens out here in Portland. We've started pulling out Savannah's 3-6 month outfits so she has some new clothes to wear (although the hooded outfit below was one that we realized we needed to put her in before she got too big for it.) Justin and Savannah are having a rocking good time together while Elizabeth is at work. Today is the day we all get to hang out together, and we went out to the garden to find the zucchini taking over....it seems that Savannah may have a new best friend, as she really loved holding onto this giant zuke! The cable man is coming today and hooking us up with more television, internet and a new home phone. Our number is: 503.954.3586 and we'll have free long distance on it...all the better to call with! It's a nice cloud-covered day here today, and for once we are thankful for that. Funny how your perspective on the weather changes through the seasons....Savannah's biggest development was yesterday when she discovered that she could not only take the pacifier out of her mouth, but she could put it back in as well!

Fun times with Savannah

Three months

Well we have all made it successfully past the three month point in Savannah's life and are doing good. We had a nice big barbecue at our house last Friday night in honor of Justin's birthday (just a little early) and had a bunch of people make it over to our house. Things have been working out well with Justin staying home with Savannah while I work...it is turning out to be fun for everyone! Justin finished our patio a few weeks back and we are finally starting to reap some benefits with our garden, collecting quite a few zucchini already, seeing some tomatoes starting to pop up, peppers growing, even a few ears of corn...summer is in full swing! Savannah has just discovered her thumb and has been sucking on it more now than her other fingers, which she is quite excited about. She is doing an awesome job holding her head up and talking a lot these days...just an active little one!

12 weeks

Another week has come and gone in the life of Savannah, and she is now drawing dangerously close to being 3 months old! I started back to work this week, and so far things are going well. Justin had a blast playing with Savannah all day on Monday and getting into a bit of a rhythm with her. Luckily I am only scheduled for about 20 hours this week to ease us all into things, and then a full 40 hours next week, so that will be the true adventure! Savannah is starting to play with her toys a little bit more, and is especially fond of this turtle toy (or at least I have decided she is fond of it). We are all getting excited for Justin's birthday on Monday, and hope to do something fun this weekend to celebrate...it might not be so hot! Our other big adventure has been going jogging with the new jogging stroller Justin got for us....it is certainly a different experience from the ole days of running, pre-pregnancy, but an enjoyable one none the less. Savannah naps while Taosoul and I jog (we could probably walk just as fast as we're running, but it's the thought that counts).

savannah speaks

11 weeks

Well, another week has passed us by here in Portland, and a busy one it has been. Savannah has had many adventures this past week, trying to cram them all in before Mom has to go back to work. Last week she got to meet her new best friend, Elise, and the two were quite excited to see one another. She went to the nature park with some 2 year-old friends, and had coffee with another older friend on the fourth of July. Her holiday was pretty laid back, watching movies and eating pizza, then checking out a few fireworks in the neighborhood at night. Over the weekend she went for another round of disc golf, a visit to the farmers market and some special time with mom and dad. On Monday, Savannah had her first experience with a baby sitter, while Justin and I went out to see a movie for our anniversary. From what we were told, things went well, just a little screaming and crying, but nothing too bad. Janelle still had a smile on her face when we got home, so it couldn't have been too bad! The last two days we have been getting out hiking, trying to make the most of our last few free days together. It has been quite hot here in Portland again, and yesterday we were up at Mt Hood, where it was around 80 degrees, but we were hiking through snow in some areas, which was a bit surreal...sure felt good on the feet, though! It's back to work on Monday for me, so hopefully the pictures and blogs still keep flowing!

10 weeks

We can't count days anymore...this girl is just getting too old! This past week has been a hot one here in Portland west, so we have been trying to stay cool throughout it all. We hit up a couple of bbqs, did some frisbee golfing and laid around the house a lot this past weekend. Things are cooling off a bit this week (80s instead of close to 100), and we have a few grand adventures planned which we'll try to get some pictures of. The big fun was going to the doctor last night for Savannah's 2 month wellness checkup....and she is well! She weighed in at 12lbs 3 oz, and measured out to be 24 inches long....so she is sure growing! Especially considering that when we went in a few weeks ago she was 11 lbs, 5.6oz....What is this kid eating? Everything checked out, and she is truly a healthy baby. The worst part of the visit was getting her shots....what a traumatic event that was! I have never seen such utter pain and shock on someone's face, and I think I may have cried more than she did! Hopefully she won't hold that one against us for the rest of time! And to think we are supposed to do it again in a couple of months! Aiya!
