Two Months Old!!

Somehow we have already sailed past Savannah's two month celebration! It has been a busy time for all of us this past week or so, with more adventures than one would imagine possible. Last week Amy and Molly visited us, and we went to the Gorge for a nice hike and some waterfalls, out to the coast where we went on a whale-watching trip, and to the Portland Rose Gardens. Savannah did a superb job on each of our outings, which we were pleasantly surprised by! She also had some major fits in the evenings, much worse than anything we had witnessed before, so we may have made her a bit tired. Then Savannah and Elizabeth took a trip down to sunny San Diego to visit Grandpa Steenson, Maureen, John and Claire. What an adventure that was! She slept through all of the plane rides, and everyone was quite impressed with what a calm and relaxed baby she is. Needless to say, she did not have any of her usual evening explosions, so she was on her best behavior for the trip! We'll be uploading all of her latest pictures onto Snapfish in the next few days, so keep your eyes open for an email on that one! Savannah has finally realized that she has hands and is constantly fascinated just staring at them, and continues to grow every day, talking and smiling up a storm!! Now it is back to a regular life here in Portland...

There it is! That's our house! Those are pictures of us standing outside of our house! Our closing was very smooth, and we got moved in without any problems. We had plenty of help, and were completely moved in by the end of the weekend. Unpacking is a whole other matter, though. You notice how these are all outside pictures? That's because the inside of our house is still in COMPLETE disarray. We're finding that when we were living in apartments it was fine to stick our furniture wherever we could. There was never any sense in taking our time and putting things where they were truly meant to be put, since we would just be moving a short while later. But now that we're in our house, we want to make sure that we aren't just putting our stuff in a temporary home; we want to make sure everything is going exactly where we want it to go, since we can't just wait out our lease. It's making the unpacking go rather slowly. I think what we need is some house guests to really make us kick into gear and get some boxes out of some rooms. As soon as that happens I'll get some more pictures out. We're trying to take plenty of pictures, and hope to get into some kind of blogging routine. Though now we have all these weekend chores (like mowing, planting tomato plants, that kind of thing) to distract us. But don't worry--we'll get those pictures soon!

Days 54-59

What an exciting time we have been having here during the past week! Savannah took her first trip outside of Portland, heading out to the coast for a couple of days with Elizabeth. She got to stay in a hotel and got her first view of the ocean, although she is waiting until this week to go for a walk on the beach. Everyone wanted to hold her and give her lots of love and kisses. She also got to head out to Milo McIver State Park for a disc golf tournament and a visit to the campground where Justin was staying with a group of friends...and her first time in a tent (just for a nap though). We went to the doctor last week because she had a little virus, and we found out that she is up to a whopping 11 lbs, 5.4 oz, so we no longer worry about whether or not she is getting enough food. :) Things will continue to be busy for another week or so, as we have friends coming to visit for this week, then Savannah and Elizabeth are headed to San Diego for a few days....have to get all the fun in before heading back to work! The weather is finally nice and we are all starting to feel a bit normal again....hope you enjoy the pictures and video!

Days 46-53

Somehow we have made it part way through June and it still doesn't seem like it is springtime here in Portland. We lucked out and had one nice day on Sunday where it was sunny and warm, so Savannah went on her first disc golfing trip with some friends. She only lasted about 7 holes before she was ready to eat, though. That evening we had some friends over and barbecued, enjoying the last bits of a nice day before it went back to cold and rainy again. Today it is 49 degrees. Should be 70s or 80s, but not here! Savannah's gotten to spend a lot of time lately with our friends, and everyone loves holding her and remarking on how cute/big/strong she is, but they are all quick to return her as soon as she poops or starts crying. Strange, isn't it? This week she will be heading on her first long trip out to the coast for a couple of days, which she is very excited about. She is still eating well and sleeping part way through the night, and is smiling more and more every day. All in all, it's been a good week, with some major fussiness in the evenings still, but it's getting easier for all of us. Now if we could just get some sunshine...

Days 40-45

What fun we have been having out here on the west coast! Savannah got to attend her first Last Thursdays on Alberta street, which provides Justin an opportunity to sell his bracelets, and lends itself to some great people watching! There were babies all over the place, and everyone stopped to chat and comment on how beautiful she is (and occasionally make a purchase, too). This weekend she got to spend some time outside watching Justin work in the back yard, and he serenaded her with a tune in the evening. She has been somewhat colicky in the evenings, so we are trying to find ways to keep her happy and not crying (somedays this is easier than others!) She is smiling more and more every day and we are having a great time with her! It's hard to believe that she is already 6 weeks old, and in another 6 weeks I'll be going back to work!!
